LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) protocol is an environmental certification standard used to evaluate and promote sustainability during the design and construction phases of new buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), it covers a wide range of environmental and performance categories, encouraging sustainable building practices. The total credits earned can lead to four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

The available rating systems in which a building can be certified are:

  • Building Design and Construction (BD+C)
  • Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M)
